This is a portrait I did of President Alison Byerly, the first female President of Lafayette College. Lafayette College was founded in 1826, a very old institution.   I collaborated with President Byerly on creating a homage within her Presidential Portrait.  Behind her hangs a painting by historical female artist Jennie Augusta Brownscombe (American 1850-1936).  Jennie was known for American history painting, she was also a founding member of the Art Student's League of New York City.   The painting hanging on the wall behind President Byerly is from Lafayette College's art collection.  It is entitled "Washington Greeting Lafayette at Mount Vernon", by Jennie A Brownscombe.   It was very befitting to have a painting depicting America's first President behind Lafayette College's first female President.  This painting is in the collection of Lafayette College.
