Artist's Statement
Through homage and a Reminist approach to history, I bring the voices of historical women artists into the present, creating paintings that explore lineage, identity, and the universal threads that connect us all.
My work creates a visual language that bridges my world with the worlds of the historical women artists who came before me. Through homage, I enter into dialogue with their work, honoring their achievements and extending their presence into the present. Each painting functions as both tribute and continuation — a way of affirming women’s art as a living, generative force.
For more than eighteen years, I have been creating Homage paintings that draw directly from the work of historical women artists. This sustained practice has allowed me to develop a distinctive narrative language shaped by lineage, intuition, and historical continuity. I think of this approach as Reminism: a way of inhabiting and carrying forward women’s artistic forms so that their meanings remain active and resonant today.
A Reminist approach allows women’s art to function not as historical correction, but as a primary source of inspiration — asserting its capacity to generate new narratives, images, and possibilities. While rooted in women’s history, the themes that emerge speak to shared human experiences: resilience, identity, ambition, memory, intuition, and transformation.
At the core of my practice is a belief in connection across time, geography, and lineage. The women artists I honor are not distant figures; they are part of an ongoing continuum. By bringing their work into the present, I seek to show how their visions continue to shape who we are and how we imagine the future.
