Artist's Statement
Through homage, I bring the voices of historical women artists into the present, creating paintings that explore contemporary issues, lineage, identity, and the universal threads that connect us all.
My work creates a visual language that bridges my world with the worlds of the historical women artists who came before me. Through homage, I enter their stories, honor their achievements, and extend their voices into the present. Each painting becomes both a tribute and a reimagining — a way to illuminate what has too often been overlooked.
I have been creating Homage paintings for more than eighteen years, and this long-standing practice has allowed me to develop a distinctive narrative language shaped by history, lineage, and intuition. Although my inspiration is rooted in women’s history, my imagery is meant to resonate with everyone. I want the paintings to appeal across gender, culture, and experience, reflecting ideas that belong to our shared human story: resilience, identity, intuition, ambition, memory, and transformation.
Underlying my work is a deep belief that we are all connected — across time, across geography, across lineage. The lives of these historical women artists are not distant from us; they are threads in the same tapestry. By bringing their stories into the present, I hope to show how their struggles, triumphs, and visions still speak to who we are today.
My practice blends the scholarly and the poetic. I study each artist closely — their techniques, their challenges, their legacy — and then translate those insights into imaginative spaces where past and present coexist. My hope is to spark curiosity, to invite viewers to look more deeply, and to inspire them to discover or rediscover the women whose lives shaped the history of art.
