Artist's Statement
I think of my paintings as collaborations across time. Rather than treating artists of the past as subjects to be copied or simply referenced, I invite them into new visual conversations. My work asks what happens when women artists separated by centuries meet around a new idea.
Through homage and a Reminist approach, I bring the voices of historical women artists into the present, creating paintings that explore lineage, identity, memory, and the universal threads that connect us all. Each work functions as both tribute and continuation—a conversation in which the artistic languages of the past evolve within contemporary narratives.
For more than eighteen years, I have created Homage paintings inspired by historical women artists. This sustained practice has led me to define Reminism as a philosophy of painting that views artistic lineage as a living continuum rather than a fixed inheritance. It is an approach that invites women artists separated by centuries to meet around new ideas, allowing their visual languages to continue evolving while honoring the integrity of their original contributions.
Although rooted in women's history, my paintings speak to broader human experiences: resilience, identity, ambition, memory, intuition, transformation, love, loss, and hope. The women I honor are not distant figures preserved by history, but active collaborators whose ideas continue to resonate within contemporary life. Through painting, I seek to demonstrate that great works of art do not end when they are completed; they continue to grow as they encounter new imaginations, new generations, and new ideas.
